CAN THO - A seminar on
agrotourism is scheduled to kick off on July 8 at the Broadcasting and
Television of Hau Giang Province (HGTV) to help develop the province into a
popular destination in terms of ecotourism and agrotourism.
The seminar, themed “Jointly develop
agrotourism,” is being co-organized by the Saigon Times Group, the provincial
People’s Committee and HGTV.
By joining the event, participants, including
experts at home and abroad, businesspeople and local farmers, will have the
chance to share experiences in operating agrotourism activities around the world
and throughout Vietnam and to suggest cooperation plans for the province to
develop agrotourism.
Phan Dinh Hue, director of travel firm Viet
Circle, will deliver a speech on strategies to develop agrotourism in
connection with Lung Ngoc Hoang Nature Reserve, which covers over 2,800
hectares of land.
Meanwhile, a session on agrotourism
developments in the central city of Hoi An and the Mekong Delta region will be
presented by Nguyen Su, former Party chief of Hoi An City.
In addition, Stiermann Martin, director of
Ricefield Lodge, will discuss joint efforts in agrotourism development in Hau
Giang.
With 15 years of development, Hau Giang is
expected to become a green agricultural center in the Mekong Delta region,
according to Le Tien Chau, chairman of the provincial government. The
provincial Party Committee issued Resolution 09 on developing the province’s
tourism until 2020, with a vision toward 2030.
The Mekong Delta province is set to attract
one million tourists by 2025, including 70,000 international arrivals,
generating more than VND1.4 trillion in total revenue and 4,200 jobs for local
residents.
In addition to developing the tourism
infrastructure and tourism products, the province is currently bolstering State
management activities related to tourism, launching tourism promotion programs,
improving manpower quality in the field and raising public awareness of tourism
development.
