Corona casino, which is part of Corona Resort & Casino on Phu Quoc Island off Kien Giang Province and the first to allow the Vietnamese to gamble, was officially opened on January 19.

To gain entry into the casino, gamblers must buy a ticket at VND1 million for 24 hours. The revenue from the fee collection will go into the budget of Kien Giang Province.

Casino visitors must meet a number of conditions. Specifically, they must be 21 years old or above and have regular income of at least VND10 million a month.

The first phase of the Corona Resort & Casino complex project was invested VND25 trillion (US$1.1 billion). Daily casino operations will be overseen by Upffinity Gaming Management, a casino management firm of the Netherlands.

The complex provides lodging and entertainment services, with 2,000 five-star hotel rooms, 10 coastal villas, a convention center, a theater, a shopping mall, a water park, a spa, restaurants, bars, Vinpearl amusement park, a safari park and an 18-hole golf course.

According to Upffinity CEO Daniel Kupsin, Vietnam has an increasing number of domestic and international tourists, who have high demands for high-end hotels and entertainment services.

Corona Resort & Casino has attracted multiple tourism service providers and is expected to be a destination for Vietnamese gamblers who tend to gamble abroad, contributing to Phu Quoc’s tourism development.

Kupsin noted he was proud that Corona is the first casino for the Vietnamese and pledged to cooperate with the Vietnamese management agencies to make the casino a success.
