HCMC – FPT Corporation held a grand opening for the first phase of FPT University campus and FPT Software Park Complex in Can Tho City on Friday, August 10, to ensure a supply of high-qualified manpower in the Mekong Delta region.
Speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stressed that the complex has to perform a pivotal role in providing human resources in science and technology, particularly supplying personnel for thriving sectors, such as hi-tech agriculture and tourism in the Mekong Delta, and assisting in developing the Mekong region.
The Government highly praised the efforts of FPT University, in particular, and FPT Corporation, for their 12 years of construction and contributions. It has become a prestigious private university and was among the first educational institutions in Vietnam to use English in teaching and learning, as well as deploy advanced technology, in line with international standards, Phuc remarked.
In addition, the school has collaborated with over 60 universities around the globe to organize exchange programs, attracting some 1,000 overseas students coming from Japan, Australia, France, Germany, and the U.S.
Can Tho is reportedly the fourth destination in which FPT Group invested to build the FPT University campus and FPT Software Park, preceded by Hanoi, Danang City, and HCMC, according to FPT CEO Bui Quang Ngoc. He pledged that the complex will supply qualified human resources for the delta, and partially contribute to converting Can Tho into a smart city, in line with the Industrial Revolution 4.0 concept.
The complex, which covers an area of 17.4 hectares, with a total investment capital of VND1.17 trillion, is expected to serve 10,000 students and 5,000 staff. The first phase, which cost more than VND200 billion, has reached completion, covering 10,000 square meters and meeting learning demands for 3,000 students. The software park project is slated for construction next year.
